Michaela and Chris Goan

Chris and Michaela work together, in their garden studios, on ceramic pieces which reflect the beauty of the area, using words, textures and simple sketches.

More

Chris is a writer and poet and Michaela takes his words and puts them into the clay along with imagery, lines and textures. Both are inspired by the beauty of Cowal. The house and studios are surrounded by hills, trees and water so it’s easy to see where the inspiration comes from. Chris also works with wood so there are three studios to see – the pottery, the woodshed and the framing set-up in the garage. Together this has evolved into working on larger ceramic art pieces and some experimenting with sculpture by Michaela. You are warmly invited to come and visit.

During Cowal Open Studios, you can come and see the studios, browse our work or even make your own wee ceramic artwork- any age, no experience required. Michaela also runs regular pottery classes for beginners or for those developing their skills further, and the studio and kiln are available for hire.

Some of Chris’s published work will be for sale and you can find out more about the poetry workshops on offer.

You are welcome to drive down to the house and studio, or park on the road. There are small steps down to the studio and a small step in. There are a number of steps into the house where our work is on display.
