After looking through some of my late husband,Colm Docherty's sketch books,I thought it would be nice to put together some prints of his work.
Colm studied drawing and painting at Glasgow School of Art from 1974-1978.Jimmy Robertson and David Donaldson being among his tutors. He himself loved tutoring local art groups(in his own unique style!)and was extremely proud of all his pupils. One of his other loves was for Dunoon Burgh Hall where he was Exhibitions Designer and Technician hanging everything from the Christmas Shows to Barbara Rae to Medieval Sculptures. He also loved to talk with locals and visitors alike about the latest show, art artists and bicycles and willingly answer any question put. Colm enjoyed working in many mediums including photography and sculpture, but his main love was for pencil and watercolour, pen and ink and Chinese Ink. Some of the big influences on his work came from the likes of Mark Rothko,Paul Klee and William Johnstone. In June 2022 Colm was tragically killed whilst cycling home to Clachaig.
