Watercolour artist of a miscellany of botanical subjects especially floral, and fruits and vegetables which form a part of my kitchen garden series,
After A levels I was accepted onto a college course to do art and textile design but life took me along a different path when instead, I joined the South Yorkshire Police. A move overseas and family life kept me so busy there never seemed to be enough time for artistic pursuits. In 2000 I returned to the UK and after sticking a pin in a map of Scotland, (my father’s birthplace), my children and I arrived in Cowal.
The 2020 lockdown allowed me the space to prioritise what was important to me. I rediscovered watercolour painting, particularly botanical subjects. I find joy in the interaction and unpredictability of the colour pigments and water on the surfaces. I use mainly Arches papers and Daniel Smith/A. Gallo paints, which I find perform especially well. The process became a form of meditation and solace through the challenges of the Covid pandemic and is now an important part of my life.
