My work explores the relationship between fine art and design. Using a variety of media, often recycled, it ranges from fine art to jewellery to textiles.
- I am interested in many types of mixed media with a particular interest in metals, recycled materials, textiles and found objects. As an educationalist, I am interested in the so called divide between fine art and design disciplines and why it should be so.
With this in mind my works include jewellery pieces or “mini sculptures’ within artworks which can be removed for wear and placed back again. Thus incorporating a practical design solution within a sympathetic fine art aesthetic. The themes I have explored to date include Scottish Culture, Colour and Astronomical Constellations and Zodiac signs.
