I create original prints, books, textiles and printing kits using local plants and dyes. Come and visit the cabin and try your hand at cyanotype printing.
I live and work between my studio in Argyll’s beautiful ‘Secret Coast’ and my riverside home in central Scotland. I work with leaves and flowers, seaweed and a rich diversity of natural pigments to create original printed works which embody the landscape in/of which they are created. My materials come from plants grown for their colour and texture in my garden by the water, long walks, open landscapes and fresh air. I work mindfully, following the seasons, and each piece carries within it a story of place and time.
I follow a botanical printing process using natural plant dyes of my own creation, as well as cyanotype printing and indigo dying, both of which produce beautifully saturated blue prints. I create hand-stitched notebooks, cards, textiles, printing kits and a range of printed media. There will be an opportunity to try cyanotype printing when you visit my open studio (limited supplies).
I love to work in collaboration with clients and my commissions include printing with favourite plants from clients’ own gardens to create a very personal artwork. I also paint personalised wooden ‘soul poles’, a unique piece of garden art, and will have examples of these on display in the beautiful garden.
There is plenty of parking at the tank slip (carry on with the house on the right and you will reach it), and you will find me in the cabin at the back of the garden. Please do ‘stop and smell the roses!’
Following the Shore Road out of Kames towards Carry Farm, we are the last house on the right before the tank slip. Cabin is at the rear of the garden.
