We were delighted to welcome 15 new artists to Cowal Open Studios in 2009 taking out participant group to 43! We are hoping to welcome more to the group in 2010 - we will be updating the News Page with details of new members as and when membership is confirmed. Cowal Open Studios Opening Exhibition-2009

The COS weekend 2009 was launched with an exhibition of work from all participating artists at The Creggans Inn, Strachur. Around 200 people were welcomed in to the convivial surroundings of the Creggans, and several of the artists were delighted to make their first sales of the event that afternoon!

The event provided a marvellous start to a busy and exciting weekend of artist's open studios as well as a welcome opportunity for all the participants to get together in the delightful surroundings of the Creggans. In addition, it provided a great opportunity for people to collect the new Directory so they could plan their COS weekend in advance. This was commented on throughout the Open Studios weekend-visitors were not only pleased to be able to plan their itinerary, but once again, the professionalism, quality and beauty of the Directory was itself a frequent talking point.

The date of this years Opening Exhibition is yet to be confirmed, and we but please watch out for this date and when it is confirmed, pop it in your diary - would be delighted if you could join us for an entertaining afternoon of art, chat and a glass of wine!

We were proud to host, in partnership with the Lochgoilhead Fiddle Workshop, the 4 piece contemporary folk group 'Rallion', acclaimed as one of Scotland's most exciting traditional folk bands. Additionally, we had the virtuoso playing of two world class harpists-Ailie Robertson and Tristan Le Govic-who enchanted the audience with their exploration of Breton and Scottish harp traditions and were also deliciously witty in their banter.

The concert held on Saturday 26th September at Strachur Memorial Hall was a rollicking affair, enjoyed by 100 or so locals and visitors. There was much clapping, foot stomping and laughter and the concert provided one of the highlights of a busy Bank Holiday weekend for many.

We are looking froward to developing our relationship with LFW throughout 2010 and hope this years concert will be double the fun!!
